The Big Talent Bash
The Big Talent Bash took place on 29th
September. It was the chance for all of our young members to showcase
their talents. The event was held at the The Youth Building in Canning
Town, the winner of the talent show Habeeb “Bibz” Husein, won a cash
price, and went on to perform in a later event – Black Urban Fusion.
The performers ranged from MC’s, to dancers, to singers. The event was
enjoyed by over 200 people, giving the young people of Newham a chance
to come together and share their talent and musical tastes.
Black Urban Fusion
Preparations for Black Urban Fusion began in August 2006 in the Canning Town youth centre and the final show was held on the 27th
October at Stratford Circus. The young people were involved at all
stages of preparation for the event. They were coordinated by our Youth
Worker, Vicky Remmie.
The young people took on diverse tasks such as coordinating auditions
and rehearsals, publicising the event, handing out flyers, planning the
line-up of the event and setting up the venue. On the night, young
people from the youth group worked as ushers, stage managers,
performers and comperes for the acts. The smooth running of the event
was testimony to the hard work of all the young people involved.
The event was a huge success attracting over 300 people. It was
designed to coincide with and celebrate Black History Month. It was a
great opportunity for young people from our youth group to perform and
show off their talent to the people of Stratford. The performers
included dancers, singers, MC’s and DJ’s.

Newham and becoming part of this vibrant community. Please click below
